OLLI MUSTONEN piano

The Finnish pianist Olli Mustonen holds a unique place on the international musical scene.
As a pianist he has charmed the public with his outstanding technique and with his brilliant interpretation; as a conductor he has founded the “Helsinki Festival Orchestra”; as a composer he is one of those musicians whose visions is expressed with as much vitality in the art of interpretation as in the ex-novo compositions. Moreover, his discography is characterized by an exceptional quality.

Mustonen has performed in all the world’s musical capitals, from Vienna to London, from Amsterdam to Tokyo.
He has performed with the major international orchestras like the “Berlin Philharmonic” and the “Los Angeles Philharmonic”, cooperating with conductors such as Ashkenazy, Barenboim, Boulez, Gergiev, Harnoncourt, Masur, Nagano.
He believes that each performance should be as momentous as a premiere and he always regards the author as a present-day composer.

His interpretation of Bach’s Goldberg Variations promises to be interesting, since it will surely emphasize the artist’s vocation to explore many areas of the repertoire beyond the preordained canons.
