To play at Fazioli Concert Hall for the third concert of the series THE WINNERS on June 6th will be Alexander Yakovlev, winner of the last edition of the Ettore Pozzoli International Piano Competition (Seregno, Italy).

Alexander Yakovlev was born in Rostov-on-Don (Russia) in 1981. Alexander began his musical studies at the age of 6. He completed Rostov-on-Don conservatory and post graduate course in classical piano with professor Sergey Osipenko. At the same time, Alexander studied composition in the class of professor Leonid Klinichev. Later on, he  studied  in  Salzburg  Academy  “ Mozarteum ” with professor  Alexey Lubimov  and  in Berlin University of Arts (UdK) with professor Pascal Devoyon . Also he took masterclasses with professor Vincenzo Balzani  in Milan.
The rapid growth of the pianist's international carrier started in  2006 after his winning the piano competition named after Chopin in Rome  where Alexander Yakovlev received  Grand prix and a concert grand as a gift. He performed Mozart’ piano Concerto n°.24 and that performance was broadcasted throughout the world by Vatican Radio.
Within the years from 2006 to 2012, Alexander Yakovlev was rewarded with more than 55 first prizes at the prestigious world piano competitions. After winning the “Valsesia International Piano Competition ”In Varallo (Italy). The 3rd concert of Prokofiev, performed by Alexander Yakovlev was recorded in 5000 copies  and sold by  the firm “Suonare” in Italy.
Alexander won prizes at prestigious international competition of pianists in Geneva,“Rina Salo Galo Piano Competition”  in Monza (Italy), “Pozoli Piano Competition”  in Seregno(Italy), “Arthur Schnabel Competition” in Berlin (Germany).  The pianist succeeded in more than 50 countries of  Europe,Asia and America. He won the first prizes at such famous competitions  as  “Moderne Compositore” in Madrid, the concerts competition in Cantu (Italy),Ferrol(Spain), “Boesendorfer Piano Competition” in Sofia, “Neue Sterne” in Germany.
In 2010, Alexander Yakovlev won the first prize at the international piano competition in Monterrey (Mexico) - “Parnassos piano competition in Monterrey city”, and two years later, in 2012, he caused a sensation at one of the world most prestigious piano competitions (and one of the most prestigious competitions in America) in Cincinnati - “Cincinnati World Piano Competition”.
The world press comments about the pianist's performance:  “Virtuoso and thinker. Alexander Yakovlev has his own style, based on a deep reading of composers' conception ...”, “His performance is remarkable for passionate temperament and  deep psychologism; he  holds  the audience  in strained attention ...”
Alexander Yakovlev regularly performs  in Europe, America, Japan. He has already given more than 500 concerts  in major world  audience halls, including the Tchaikovsky concert hall in Moscow, Grand Hall of  Berlin Philharmonic Society, Victoria Hall  in Geneva, Verdi hall of the music conservatory in Milano, Palau Valencia, Palau Barcelona, Palau Zaragoza, auditorium “La Sapienza” in Rome.
In 2010, Alexander participated  in major festival “Great Masters of Zaragoza”  together  with such  recognized musicians  as Lang-Lang, Yo-Yo Ma and Leif Ove Andsnes.
In the coming season 2013-2014, Mr. Yakovlev will give a number of concerts  in America, including performance  in a prestigious hall  Lincoln Center, Alice  Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall, and also a number of concerts in Germany, Italy, Korea, Romania, Spain, Japan and  Russia.
Alexander Yakovlev cooperated with more than fifty high-class musical collectives. Among them there are Orchestra of Berlin Philharmonic society, Orchestra Suisse Romande , Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, Rome Chamber  Orchestra, Tokyo Chamber  Orchestra,  Milano Orchestra “Pomerigiomusicale”, Rumanian  Philharmonic Orchestra “Michail Jora”, Symphonic Orchestra Cincinnati.
Alexander Yakovlev has performed under the baton of  such conductors as Kent Nagano, Ravil Martynov, Semen Kogan, Dmitry Yablonskiy, Jean-Bernard Pommier, Shinsaku Tsutsumi, Ovidiu Balan, Alexander Polyanichko, Andrey Anikhanov, Mark Gibson  and Conrad van Alphen among others.
