Friday, 3 April 2020 - 20:45

She has distinguished herself for over twenty years for the versatility of her performances, her virtuosity and the passion that can all be found in her vast repertoire. She has also compiled a captivating discography including unprecedented projects that have seen collaborations with IRCAM - Centre Pompidou, Paris and with the Fondazione di Arte Contemporanea Spinola-Banna foundation, where she held the role of Resident Artist alongside Georges Aperghis. Mariangela Vacatello claimed her place on the international stage from a very young age, with second place at the Liszt competition in Utrecht at just 17, and subsequent accolades at the Busoni competition in Bolzano, the Van Cliburn in Fort Worth in Texas, Top of the World in Norway and the Queen Elisabeth in Brussels. She has also won the Venice Award, the Solti Foundation Award, the “Nino Carloni” Critic's Award, and many others. Her busy concert schedule knows no bounds and she has enjoyed a long list of collaborations with prominent orchestras and celebrated conductors. Born in Castellammare di Stabia, she continued her studies at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale of Imola, the Conservatorio di Milano and the Royal Academy of Music. She currently lives in Perugia and combines her piano career with a busy teaching schedule.

…Vacatello dominates the emotions with audacity, dancing creative unity and vivid interpretation, investing the piano's richness of tone and colour even on pages of music that could sound ordinary. She is able to transform even these passages into miniature works of art.
