ROBERTO PLANO | MASSIMO BELLI | NUOVA ORCHESTRA DA CAMERA F. BUSONI

Friday 4 April 2014
Roberto Plano - Nuova Orchestra Busoni - Massimo Belli

Roberto Plano, piano
with
Nuova Orchestra da Camera Ferruccio Busoni
Massimo Belli
, conductor

The pianist Roberto Plano encountered Andrea Luchesi by chance and, when it happened, it was a kind of shock for him.
This little-known composer of the eighteenth century - who, according to recent studies, would be the true author of works hitherto assigned to great composers such as Haydn and Mozart - is located in a sort of "borderland", where Baroque elements and the galant style of Viennese classicism live in exquisite balance.
Plano has contributed in a special way to the revaluation of Luchesi by recording two CDs for the label "Concerto", one of which realized at the Fazioli Concert Hall with the New Chamber Orchestra Ferruccio Busoni. Two of the concerts of Luchesi will embellish this program, which presents an eighteenth century repertoire in the first part and the twentieth century in the second.
For both periods we will listen to unusual pages, such as the moving Eclogue by Gerald Finzi, a work rarely performed outside of the English-speaking countries.

« There is a large number of outstanding pianists ...
but then it comes a musician like Roberto Plano
and demonstrates how there can be a higher level. »

« The Busoni Orchestra, conducted by Massimo Belli, has proven to be
one of the best Italian chamber orchestras, showing a good team spirit,
warm and intense sound and extreme versatility ... »
