At the 1997 edition of Umbria Jazz, it was the first time in which Fazioli Pianos appeared at the Festival and, for many pianists, it meant love at first sight.
The high-quality instruments produced at the Italian piano factory won the unanimous appreciation and praise of jazz musicians at the festival, such as Martial Solal, who said in an interview that he had never played a better piano.
Since then, the collaboration with Umbria Jazz has intensified year by year, thanks to the assistance of Piano et Forte Perugia, top-level concert service in the area.
"The partnership with Umbria Jazz opened a new chapter in the history of the brand" - Paolo Fazioli says - "I am grateful to the Artistic Director of Umbria Jazz, Carlo Pagnotta, for confirming our presence at the festival in the years, allowing us to work alongside the Artists invited in Perugia".
The most long-awaited appointment for Fazioli and the worldwide Fazioli "fans" took place on July 12th, starring at the Arena Santa Giuliana the piano duet Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock: the latter one of the greatest artists in the world requesting Fazioli instruments exclusively.
It has to be noted that Hancock, portraited with a special creations of the Fazioli collection in the CD cover of "River, The Joni Letters", in February 2008 imposed a Fazioli grand piano as a "sine qua non" for his participation the Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
With the 2013 edition, Umbria Jazz celebrated its 40th Anniversary.
