RACHEL BREEN – DAIKI KATO

Rachel Breen – 1° Prize ex aequo (Berkeley, California, 1997) graduated from Yale University and Juilliard School under the leadership of Boris Slutsky and Julian Martin, respectively. She was also a student of Lars Vogt at the Hochschule für Musik in Hannover, where she currently lives. Among the significant acknowledgements achieved, we recall her victory at the Georges Cziffra International Competition in 2019, the Beethoven Competition of Vienna in 2021 and the distinction at the Honens Competition in 2022.

Daiki Kato – 1° Prize ex aequo (Tokyo, 1990) graduated and also obtained a master’s degree the Showa University of Music. He then perfected his studies with honours and mention of honour at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich. Among his teachers: Fumiko Eguchi, Antti Siirala and Arian Oetiker. At the “Palma d’Oro” Competition, Kato also received the Donzdorf Prize. In 2022, he also distinguished himself at the Competition Halina Czerny-Stefańska in Memoriam in Poznań (Poland).

Palma d’Oro Competition | Finale Ligure The Competition was born in 1974 from the idea of Aloise Vecchiato and Bartolomeo Marco, and since 2015 it has been associated with the Alink-Argerich Foundation. Managed by the Association of Musical Culture “Palma d’Oro” with the support of the Municipality of Finale Ligure and the De Mari Foundation, the Competition is now in its 49th edition and enriched by a calendar of concerts also aimed at enhancing places of historical and cultural interest of the territory. The German city of Donzdorf awards a special prize and collaborates with the winners’ concerts.
