Winner of the First Prize at the 19th Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2025), Eric Lu has captivated critics and audiences alike with the poetic sensitivity and rare intensity of his performances. Born in Massachusetts in 1997, he first gained international attention in 2015 by reaching the finals of the prestigious Chopin Competition at the age of just 17, before cementing his reputation in 2018 by winning the Leeds International Piano Competition. He trained at the Curtis Institute of Music under Robert McDonald and Jonathan Biss, and further honed his craft with Dang Thai Son, Mitsuko Uchida, and Imogen Cooper. Since 2019, he has been an exclusive artist for Warner Classics; he has released three critically acclaimed albums with the label, including a recording of Schubert sonatas that was awarded the “Instrumental Choice” distinction by *BBC Music Magazine*. Collaborations with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and with conductors including Riccardo Muti and Vasily Petrenko, underscore the international stature of a performer who is a regular presence on major concert stages.
