The poetic universe of Chopin and Scriabin
By Roberto Calabretto
Arsenii Moon came to international prominence in 2023 with his victory at the Busoni Competition, where he not only won the Audience Prize but also received the Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Award—bestowed only by unanimous jury decision and not awarded since 1995. This success led him to major venues such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, the Seoul Arts Centre, Zurich’s Tonhalle, and Leipzig’s Gewandhaus, as well as collaborations with Deutsche Grammophon and the ORF Vienna Radio Orchestra. In the current season, he is scheduled to appear in Milan, Rome, Lucerne, Freiburg, Berlin, Vienna, Bonn, Prague, and Barcelona. Born in St. Petersburg in 1999, he studied with Elena Zyabreva and Alexander Sandler before graduating from the Juilliard School under Sergei Babayan. His performances are featured in Deutsche Grammophon’s 100 Great Musical Moments, alongside Barenboim, Grimaud, and other leading artists.
He exudes the magic that sets an exceptional artist apart from very good musicians.
