Richard Goode is considered one of the foremost interpreters of the Classical and Romantic repertoires. A definitive interpreter of Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, and Brahms, he has produced benchmark recordings—most notably his complete cycle of Beethoven sonatas (the first ever by an American pianist), which was nominated for a Grammy and named an essential recording by the Gramophone Good CD Guide. Other highlights include his recordings of J.S. Bach’s Partitas, Mozart concertos with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and collaborations with soprano Dawn Upshaw.

Born in New York, he studied with Nadia Reisenberg and Rudolf Serkin, establishing himself early in his career by winning the Young Concert Artists Award and First Prize at the Clara Haskil Competition. Over the course of his career, he has received honors including the Avery Fisher Prize and a Grammy Award. He is also a highly respected and sought-after educator, teaching at the Guildhall School in London, the Royal Academy of Music, and the Mannes College in New York, while regularly conducting masterclasses at prestigious international institutions.
