DMITRI LEVKOVICH

Friday 7 March 2014
Dmitri Levkovich

As in the past edition od the Fazioli Concert Hall Series, we have the privilege of listening the winner of the German Piano Award, prestigious prize given to the best within a list of qualified candidates from all over the world who were “born” for an international concert career.
By regulation, the winner is required in addition to boast noteworthy international appearances to his credit. For this reason, the young Canadian pianist Dmitri Levkovich (Ukrainian born) seems to have all the titles. Not only he is regularly invited in some of the most prestigious venues in the world - from Carnegie Hall in New York to the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg: he even won seventeen major international competitions, beating a real record in 2009, with four first prizes achieved in a period of six weeks in different places. For a long time a student of Sergei Babayan (the same teacher of Daniil Trifonov ), Dmitri, beyond being a concert pianist, is also devoted to composition and teaching.
