Michel Dalberto

Michel Dalberto is not only among the most celebrated French pianists: he is also one of the most popular performers of our time. His interpretations of Mozart and Schubert (of whom he recorded all the piano works), have been considered unsurpassed. At the same time, he is acknowledged for his fine analysis of Liszt, Schumann, Debussy and Ravel.
His propensity to shun the flashy repertoire towards a survey in deeper and more conceptual styles, is also reflected in his love for chamber music, which makes of him an elected partner to musicians like Renaud and Gautier Capuçon and Quartette Ebène.
Born into a family where no one was a musician, he began studying the piano before his fourth birthday. In 1975 he won the Clara Haskil Competition and the Mozart Competition in Salzburg, but the 1978 is the year in which Dalberto marks its unstoppable rise. From the conquest of the podium in Leeds, in fact, his concert career has had no boundaries.

« French pianist Michel Dalberto was to piano playing last night
what Veuve Cliquot is to the start of a good dinner party:
pop, fizz, fabulous flavour and a lingering warm feeling at the end. »
