NURIT STARK – ALESSANDRO STELLA

There is still plenty of music to be written in C major!

Winner of the 2023 Gramophone Award in the “Instrumental” category, Israeli violinist and violist Nurit Stark is recognized as one of the leading interpreters of contemporary and 20th-century repertoire. Trained in Tel Aviv, Berlin, and Cologne under Haim Taub, Ilan Gronich, and the Alban Berg Quartet, she has worked closely with composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, György Kurtág, and Peter Eötvös. She plays a 1710 Pietro Guarneri of Mantua violin.

Alessandro Stella, an Italian pianist and producer with a distinctive, award-winning discography, appears at renowned festivals ranging from the Martha Argerich Project to the Klavier-Festival Ruhr. He devotes a significant portion of his work to contemporary music, collaborating with composers such as Giya Kancheli, Carlo Boccadoro, and Nicola Campogrande, who have entrusted him with the premieres and recordings of their works.

In their collaborative partnership, Stark and Stella combine the standard repertoire with a special focus on 20th-century music and the exploration of the poetic world of Valentin Silvestrov, a composer whose writing hovers between memory, silence, and lyricism.
