LUKAS GENIUŠAS piano
Winner of the German Piano Award, 2012
The German Piano Award, founded in 2010 by International Piano Forum Frankfurt, is an annual award for pianists in their Master studies and graduates from German or International Partner Universities and Conservatories.
Thanks to the partnership established between International Piano Forum Frankfurt and Fazioli, we have the chance to meet the winner of the 2012 edition of this Award: Lukas Geniušas.
Lithuanian citizen, Lukas was born in Moscow into a family of musicians. His talent was revealed already with the prizes achieved in very young age, but he becomes internationally renowned in 2010, winning the First Prize at the “Gina Bachauer” Competition in Salt Lake City and, after that, the silver medal at the “F. Chopin” Competition in Warsaw.
His repertoire goes from the baroque to contemporary works and despite his young age, he is able to perform ten different programmes which range from impressive recital full of impressive density to the greatest concerts for piano and orchestra.

« Mr Geniušas has embarked on an altogether more serious mission: an agonizing search for a performance style that is fully modern and catching the spirit of the age »
