F198: Picturing the Future

A new piano model is born at Fazioli: the new F198 inherits all the traditional qualities but looks to the future with a reactive and dynamic touch, thanks to a new patented Fazioli action.

The F198 is an excellent choice for both amateurs and professionals.

Its name is F198, and it is the latest addition to the Fazioli family: a new piano model that joins the six already in the catalogue, medium-sized but with excellent performance. Presented at the Milan showroom on June 21, 2024, during the European Music Day, the F198 inherits all the improvements and technical innovations present in the larger models of the Fazioli collection and at the same time looks to the future with its reactive and dynamic touch, guaranteed by the new patented Fazioli action. Its compact size and exceptional technical characteristics, typically found in longer pianos, make it an excellent choice for beginners, amateurs, students, and concert performers.

“We are very proud to present this new model” commented Engineer Paolo Fazioli, founder and CEO of Fazioli. “It symbolizes how our company always looks to the future, embracing new challenges and offering pianists worldwide an increasingly wide range of expressive possibilities. The piano is not an instrument passively and indissolubly anchored to tradition, but, like every other work of human ingenuity, it must evolve and follow continuous technical and scientific development, without this constituting a betrayal of that glorious past that has written its history.”

The new action consists of three aluminium section bars (tubas) filled with plywood and screwed onto special sides (therefore replaceable if necessary) also made of aluminium. Thanks to this combination of wood and aluminium, the structure is particularly rigid, preventing energy dispersion. All fastenings and materials have been subjected to extreme laboratory tests for mechanical stress and resistance to climatic changes.

The strings and their arrangement are designed to minimize the sound disparity between adjacent notes and make the transition between various registers, from bass to treble, smooth.

The soundboard is the heart of the piano. For this reason, Fazioli dedicates continuous and specific scientific research to its optimization, evident also in the new F198 for the exceptional sound result achieved in terms of dynamic range and power, both unprecedented for a model of such reduced size. For its construction, Fazioli uses the best spruce from the Eastern Italian Alps.

The hinges and all visible accessories, usually in brass, in Fazioli pianos are gold-plated with a 24-carat galvanic bath to prevent brass oxidation and keep the surfaces intact over the years. A Fazioli piano is made with a highly sustainable approach using energy from renewable sources, a testament to the company’s green spirit.
